A Room with a View is everywhere

In an episode of Seinfeld (screened on Norway's TV2 on September 12th, 1996, if that should be of interest to you. No, I didn't think so...), Elaine and her current boyfriend (the "maestro") end up in Tuscany, in a hotel, and they are sitting in an open window with a view - while Puccini is played in the background (O mio babbino caro, I think). Unlike in A room with a View, however, suddenly Seinfeld and Kramer appears...

By the way, are you aware that there is a band called The Miss Alans - named after the couple in A Room with a View? (an album of theirs is available in my bookstore.

Andrew Woodward has given me the following information: "On Dream Theater's album Awake there is a song called Space-Dye Vest (written by Kevin Moore, their keyboardist at the time - he has since left the band) in which there is a sample from the movie. It is as follows: "But he's the sort who can't know anyone intimately, least of all a woman. He doesn't know what a woman is. He wants you for a possession, something to look at like a painting or an ivory box. Something to own and to display. He doesn't want you to be real, or to think or to live. He doesn't love you, but I love you. I want you to have your own thoughts and ideas and feelings, even when I hold you in my arms. It's our last chance... It's our last chance..."(This album is available in my bookstore).

My favorite artist is Paul McCartney. When I heard that he had recorded a song called A Room with a View, I had to get it at once. The song is written by Noël Coward, inspired by the book, and recorded on Twentieth Century Blues - the songs of Noël Coward.
